My main goal as you all my know by now has been scratched off my list. I completed the manuscript for HELL HOUNDS, which was a relief for me. Technically, it's not truly completed since I have to work on my second draft. Either way, the manuscript is finally completed. I realized that there are other things on my list for this year to complete that I haven't really gotten to yet. For now I am focusing on the writing aspect of this bloghop series.
There is a quote by Micheal Crichton about making revisions to your completed novel that I like.
"Books aren’t written—they’re rewritten. Including your own. It is one of the hardest things to accept, especially after the seventh rewrite hasn’t quite done it."
Once you complete any novel it's never truly completed because it should be edited at least once--if not a several times at the most. Of course every writer has a different method for the drafting process. I'm still unsure how which direction I will take.
HELL HOUNDS is currently with an editor, that I paid to edit my novel. She offers copy editing, structural editing and proofreading, and/or any other type of editing the client may be interested in. A part of me wished I waited a bit longer for her to edit my novel. When I finished my novel I felt so happy that I could have thrown a party at how ecstatic I was. The only thing I wanted to do was for someone to look over it and once that was over, start looking for literary agents. Not once did I ponder drafting/revisions, or anything of the sort. Instead, I had a beta reader look over it and then sent it off to the editor.
Since there is nothing I can do about it now, I will just wait for her edited manuscript and go from there. I will go through the various drafts that I need to do, and probably find another editor, considering my current editor is booked until October, unfortunately lol.
Anyhow, that's my update for this month. I apologize that I am very slow at commenting on other people's blog, including responding back to the comments sent to my own blog posts. It's something that I need to get better at, and I will. Either way, thank you for reading!
Until next month~
