Social Media Detox

There are a lot of people out there that are glued to their phones.  Even if there is nothing for them to do on it, just to have it in their hands makes them feel balanced. When it comes to myself, I used to stay on Facebook a lot back in 2012-2013. In 2014, I was on and off until I finally decided to deactivate my account. I was gone for not quite a year, but close enough. I returned in June, but wasn’t really as active because Tumblr was holding me hostage at the time, haha.

It’s now 2016 and although I’m not still as active, I still get on just to lurk my newsfeed. I truly have no need to get on. With that said, I decided to start a social media detox. I will stay away from Facebook and Twitter, but I will still blog. Originally, I planned on staying away for one month, but if I can surpass that amount of time then I will stay away longer.

Doing this may help me concentrate on writing more. Currently I’m working on two novels. I had intentions of putting one on Swoonreads website, but I’m still undecided about that idea…but! Back to the subject at hand, the detox starts today. Throughout the duration of the month I’ll be sure to give little updates on how it’s going.

That’s it for today. Until next time~

  1. That's hard. I'm addicted to Facebook, though like you said, I'm not really doing much on it. Just constantly refreshing my newsfeed to see what pops up. Good luck with the social media detox.

    1. Thank you! :) So far, so good. And I do the same thing on Facebook. I may like a status here and there, but beyond that not so much. It can become a bit dull on there after a while.

      Thanks for commenting! :)

  2. Beat my facebook addiction. Addicted to Twitter but I ensured that I actually use it to keep my writing profile up so it's a useful addiction. LOL. Youtube addiction though...

    1. When it comes to this social media detox, I began wavering. This is mostly because I forgot that I said this was something I was going to do, haha. When it comes to Facebook, I must say that I rarely say much on there. Whenever I do sign on, it is to accept a friend request, lurk a bit on my timeline and then I sign off. I haven't even checked my notifications in so long and the numbers keep getting higher lol. I'm not that active on Twitter with the exceptional favorites here and there, retweets or if someone mentions me, but that's about it.

Lol, I used to be on Youtube a lot and Tumblr, but not so much anymore.
