Blogfest Novel Films II: Day 1

Today is a double post! My previous post was book-related if you would like to take a look at that.
I noticed that Misha Gericke was co-hosting Madeleine's blogfest and I wanted to join in. Today is Day 1~

Information about the blogfest is below. If you are interested in joining, it's up to you!

Are there any novels that you have seen as films/TV adaptations in which the novel left you cold? Or a film that surprised you and prompted you to read the novel?

I’ll like to say that I have only read one book and watched the film adaption. Other films or TV series, I have watched but never read the book. This leads me to say that I have read the first Hunger Games book. In all honesty, the movie was good but I noticed many scenes weren’t mentioned and wasn’t dark like the book was. I’m not sure who would agree with me on this, but that was my feelings on the movie. Out of five stars, I would give the movie a 4 ½ and the book…4 stars.

I understand that the movie would differ from the book, but I suppose when you read the book first there are certain and you liked it, the reader’s expectations would be high.

What about you?

  1. Watched Warm Bodies movie at home and loved it. Still haven't read the book yet. Hunger Games is a wonderful series and they did a great movie. What I really loved was how they created behind the scenes of the games from scratch. Most of that wasn't in the books. Nice post Britt and hope to see day 2.

    1. Warm bodies is a book that I would always see in the bookstores, pick it up, stare at it for a bit and then sat it back down. I wished I bought it, but I have yet to read or watch the movie yet. I plan to very soon! That's true, most of it wasn't in the books! The movie was good! Thank you for commenting, Sheena!

  2. I actually got the books a few weeks before the movie came out. I read the first one in one nights. Then second one in two. I still have not read the third one all the way, something about it made me lose interest. But I did like the movie.

    1. Really? I purchased the books a year before the movie came out, but I have yet to finish the second book yet, nor have I started on the third. For me, I'm the opposite. I believe the reason why I have yet to finish the second one is because it's not as interesting as the first one was to me. Thank you for commenting!

  3. I really liked the Hunger Games trilogy and sped read through all of them (The third book being my favorite). I wasn't too keen on the movie, but I'm really excited to see how they will adapt the other books.

At the beginning of this year, I watched a movie called No Country for Old Men, which is a movie adaption of a novel by the same name by Cormac McCarthy. The movie really made me want to read the novel, but I haven't had the chance yet. (;3;) However, when it comes to me, it is the other way around (reading the novel and then wanting to watch the movie version.) xD

Would you say that it is the same way with you and anime/manga? Do you usually read the manga and then want to watch the anime or the anime makes you want to read the manga?

This is a very interesting blog post! Can't wait to read your other entries. :)

    1. I'm curious to see how the second film will fair myself! The trailer looked good! Ah! No Country for Old Men is one of my favorite movies! I had not idea that it was a novel prior to the film.

Honestly, I did not think about anime/manga when joining this blogfest. I wish I had yesterday because I would have mentioned an manga/anime adaption! It's normally backwards for me. Watching the anime and then wanting to read the manga. This has happened with Naruto anime, NANA anime, Deadman Wonderland and Shiki anime. I grew fonder of Naruto and NANA manga. Yet, NANA anime pretty much remains the same as the manga, unlike Naruto, which are some changed.

  4. I liked the books, but the movie left me ambivalent. I guess it's because I knew all the spoilers.

    1. I felt that way on certain parts of the movie myself. Since I knew all of the spoilers, I was sitting there waiting for certain scenes to happen, lol.

  5. Hey there. It is so difficult for a director to merge all those words into a 2 - hour film. But I did love the Hunger Games.

    1. Hello! I'm always happy to see new comments! I agree, that it would be difficult. Of course the main parts should and most likely be in the movie. Thank you for commenting!
